Indiano
Johns--Indian Cuisine
I
can understand why this is XMU professor Eve Lambert's favorite restaurant,
and if you've seen the cover of my
book "Fujian Adventure," you
can guess I love Indiano John's motif
and decor. The food, of course, is heavenly--all of my favorite Indian
dishes and a few I'd never imagined existed (I like the pureed spinach
with cottage cheese and cream).
We enjoy the comfy first floor couches, where
we can listen to the classic Indian sitar CDs (I have two sitars at home!),
and watch the genuine Indian chefs whip up some genuinely delightful dishes.
The upstairs rooms are great for groups
(they even have a room for the Samrat, or Emperor).
Scroll down to see photos!
Get to know the chefs--like Ved Santoshi, who laughs as much with his hands
and mouth as his eyes. He just returned to India to be with his wife and
8-month-old girl (whom he hasn't seen yet!), but we hope he'll be back soon.
Give them a visit (about
a 5 minute drive from SM Mart). For info contact:
