Cars and bikes are forbidden on G¨³l¨¤ngy¨³ (and have been for hundreds of years) so the only way to get about is on foot or electric tourist tram. But the best way to tour the rest of X¨¬m¨¦n is to hop on a random bus and see where it takes you (we¡¯ve done that), or take scenic tour bus. Tel: 2100070 or 5095442.

When we arrived in 1988, there were only 3 or so bus routes. Ancient tandem buses belched smoke like asthmatic dragons, and much of the smoke drifted up between the cracks in the warped wooden floors. But nowadays we have sparkling new air conditioned buses; 20% of them run on clean LPG.
Xi¨¤m¨¦n buses are convenient and cheap, and buy an E-card at the post office and save an additional 20% on bus fares.
Taxi drivers are also happy to take you for a ride. Be sure they use the meter, and ask for a receipt.
