Harbour
Cafe Xiamen's first "real"
Western cafe, in the Millennium Harbourview Hotel.
Their excellent buffet changes each night of the week: German
cuisine on Monday night, Caribbean on Tuesday
night, Asian on Wednesday night, French
on Thursday nights, and seafood on Friday and Saturday
night. They also have the best breakfast buffet in town, as well
as my favorite Italian restaurant (Portofino), and a nice Japanese place.

Brazilian Barbecue
(Bāxī Kǎoròu 巴西烤肉)
Brazilian barbecue, cooked on skewers over an open fire, is big in Xiàmén
but the portions are tiny. We were shocked at the tiny sliver of roast
beef they sliced off for us—but had no idea they would reappear every
few minutes with lamb kebabs, chicken legs, sausages, prime rib, steak.
I had my fill all too quickly (just the buffet and salad bar were enough
for me).

For a romantic candlelit dinner of Latin Cuisine, try the Havana Restaurant
and dine to soft jazz music playing in the background. We tried it on
a weeknight and enjoyed the quiet intimate atmosphere. We were encouraged
to come on a Friday or Saturday when it can be quite lively, but I prefer
the quiet.
